Project Setup page

The ability to view and edit project setup requires the Project Design and Setup user privilege.

Common Project Settings

Surveys

Project Setup > Main project settings

Allows the data collection instruments in REDCap to be enabled as surveys, making them accessible for data entry using a website URL without a REDCap login. Surveys are used when participants are entering data rather than project users. Survey links can be made for specific participants, and a public survey link can be made that can be given to all participants.

Longitudinal data collection

Project Setup > Main project settings

Enables Events and Arms to be used in your project. Learn more here.

Repeating instruments (and events)

Project Setup > Enable optional modules and customizations

Allows instruments to be used multiple times for one record. For example, if the same form is to be filled out multiple times. If a project is longitudinal, events can also be made repeatable. Learn more here.

Randomization

Project Setup > Enable optional modules and customizations

Allows records to be assigned to groups via a randomization model using REDCap.

Designated email field

Project Setup > Enable optional modules and customizations

Allows an email address stored in a record to be automatically recognized as the sending address for surveys or alerts.

Twilio

Project Setup > Enable optional modules and customizations

Allows surveys and alerts to be sent via SMS message or Voice Call using the external service Twilio.

Field Comment Log

Project Setup > Enable optional modules and customizations > Additional customizations

Enabled by default on projects, field comments can be added during data entry by clicking a speech bubble icon that appears next to a data entry field. This allows additional notes to be added and reviewed in the Field Comment Log.

During data collection, check the Field Comment Log to ensure it is not being used as a substitute for a ‘notes’ or ‘other’ field. The field comments are not stored/exported along with record data. Participant data should not be entered there!

Move to Production Status

Project Setup > Move your project to production status

Changes the project from Development status to Production status. Learn more here.
