How to export and import a Data Dictionary (structure only) in REDCAP

Directions to Export Data Dictionary File:

1. Go to ‘Project Setup’ tab in the project for which you wish to export the structure.
2. Select the ‘Data Dictionary’ tab
3. Select ‘Download the current Data Dictionary’ which is located under the title ‘Steps for making project changes:’
4. Select ‘Save’ to save the data dictionary file *.csv to your desired location
   

Directions to Import Data Dictionary File:

1. Go to ‘Project Setup’ tab in the project for which you wish to Import the structure.
2. Select the ‘Data Dictionary’ tab
3. Select ‘Choose file’ which is located under the title ‘Upload your Data Dictionary File:’
4. Select the data dictionary file from your computer
5. Select ‘Upload File’ to upload the data dictionary file *.csv
6. Review any warnings, then click 'Commit Changes'
