How do I transfer or clone a project with the REDCap XML file?

If you need to copy a project within your current REDCap project, please see Contact Us for our support.  

However, sometimes projects need to be moved from one instance of REDCap into another.  In this case, it's best to do by downloading the REDCap XML file (containing metadata & data) from one project and uploading

this file into a new project. 

The first step is to access the project you would like to copy. From the home screen, select "Data Exports, Reports, and Stats"

Then select the tab that reads "Other Export Options" 

Open

Then select: Export entire project as REDCap XML file (containing metadata & data)

Open

Save the file and contact us about your need to move a project from another instance to the CHI Instance of REDCap.  Attach the file to your e-mail.  

We will then try to load the file and create your project.
