Auto Start and Auto-Continue will change how the Survey Queue handles skipped survey instruments

If the “auto start” feature is selected in the queue setup, REDCap will prompt the participant to fill out ANY incomplete surveys.

This means if a participant has skipped a form in the first event, REDCap will prompt the user to complete it before moving on to the

second event.  This is sometimes undesirable.

If “Auto-continue” is setup on the invitation settings, it will only present items within the queue for that event. This will allow the participant to 

only fill out surveys associate with the event they received an invitation from and will not allow REDCap to return to a previous event in the survey queue to

prompt completion of skipped instruments
