This is an article that will explain how to integrate text messaging in REDCap for projects utilizing the CCTST, UC and Cincinnati Children's REDCap Instance. We encourage you to review the training resources available below. Support is available at cru@ucalgary.ca


What is the REDCap / Twilio Integration?

REDCap users can currently send survey invitations through e-mail. The REDCap / Twilio integration allows users to expand that capability to include sending outgoing text messages and receiving replies via text or link.

Outgoing text messages to participants can be a delivered as a message with an accompanying link to a survey. A survey can also be delivered in a text message conversational format. Replies via text or link are saved in the appropriate location (organized by Subject ID and Event) in the REDCap Database. Below is an example of the multiple ways a researcher can contact research participants by using the Twilio Integration.
