Our validation process uses the testing scripts originally provided by the REDCap Consortium's Regulatory (21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA) and Software Validation Committee. These scripts have been subsequently kept up to date with CRU’s REDCap team in collaboration with the University of Alberta (UofA) REDCap team.

As of 2022, CRU can support a researcher who requires to run clinical trials.

Future REDCap System Upgrades

From the CRU’s REDCap 10 platform onward, future system upgrades can be applied with minimal interruption. The migration process is no longer needed. The URL to the CRU’s REDCap platform (and all survey URLs being sent to participants) will not change.

Scheduled REDCap Upgrades

The CRU will apply periodic upgrades to our REDCap platform to stay current with the latest features, fixes, and security measures. These upgrades will occur at regular intervals after our team fully validates the new version.

REDCap will be temporarily offline during the upgrade process. A banner will appear on the REDCap Login, Home, and My Project pages to notify our users of the outage ahead of time.

Emergency REDCap Upgrades

In the event that a critical security vulnerability is identified, the CRU may be required to implement an emergency upgrade to our REDCap platform.

REDCap will be temporarily offline during the upgrade process. The CRU will endeavor to alert our users of this outage and any impacts this may have.

Migration to REDCap 10 (from 2022)

The previous older versions with CRU REDCap 6.12.0 and REDCap 7.6.9 have been decommissioned on December 31st, 2022. The projects from older versions of REDCap 6 and 7 have been migrated to CRU’s REDCap 10.0.32 platform.
